Trivia
Re: Trivia
Well, they are not in Estepona. We have continual road blocks and police stops checking ITV and seat belts on the access ways into the town!
Re: Trivia
What is the number for the UK, and why would they stop for ITV when they have ANPR?
Re: Trivia
I have no idea what the UK figure is. Just saw the item on the front page of Diario Sur and thought it was worth mentioning seeing as their is so much "outrage" at a few British driving illegal in Spain. Just trying to put things into perspective not start a peaing contest.
Re: Trivia
Apparently 2.6 million people in UK are driving without a valid licence, failing to realise it has to be updated every 10 years.
It seems that also approximately a third have admitted to driving without an MOT. So not so squeaky clean!!

....and they're off

...'They're off..' ???
Just answering a question posed by Barry. Zero interest in a peeing competition.

Re: Trivia
The fact that the PHOTO requires renewing does not invalidate a UK licence. Once you have passed a UK test the right to drive is only lost in the event of a ban /totting up/medical reasons . There is no requirement even to carry it.Unicorn wrote:Apparently 2.6 million people in UK are driving without a valid licence, failing to realise it has to be updated every 10 years.

The EU requires an expiry date on a licence & the UK convinced them the photo date renewal was good enough ! No one has ever been prosecuted for it as it is a 'DVLA' offence & nothing to do with the police.
Who has ? Trafico ? Might be a couple of vehicles with it. Here in Murcia we have one. A Citroén C8barry wrote:What is the number for the UK, and why would they stop for ITV when they have ANPR?
Cost 80k . 30k for vehicle & 50k for equipment . That was in 'good times' lol Chances of being caught are slim to none.
What fascinates me is that Trafico hold 3 data bases . 1 for itv's. 1 for insurance . 1 for driving licences.
Surely by now they can make them talk to each other ?

A suburb of Bradford is named today as the 'uninsured driving capital of Britain' with nearly half the motorists there driving illegally without cover.
Every second motorist (49.5 per cent) in Barkerend in the West Yorkshire town is uninsured - the highest concentration of uninsured drivers anywhere in the country according to a post-code map of the problem.

Re: Trivia
Bradford? Now that just begs a response from someone brave enough to give it.
Let's go Brandon!
Re: Trivia
Well I expect 90% of that 49.5% are not card carrying Tykes and can trace their ancestry to a village between India and Afganistan.

Telegraph last years saidkaty wrote:It is estimated that there are at least 2.5million vans on the roads in Spain that do not have a current ITV. Puts the unlicensed UK cars into perspective doesn't it
Third of motorists admit driving without a valid MoT
I can pee higher than you.In contrast, as many as 40.5 per cent of south-west England drivers owned up to driving without an MoT.

Re: Trivia
I wasn't peeing. Keep my responses to Spain matters and when I said UK cars I meant the ones in Spain that everyone is outraged about. To spell it out does it matter if it is an unlicensed/uninsured Brit plated car that runs into you or a Spanish one. Statistically it will be an uninsured Spaniard. Never mind.....I give up
Re: Trivia
Don't give up katy! When I said I could pee higher than you it's 'cos I'm a guy and we have different bits.

That article is 5+ years old & I would have hoped they'd all been rounded up & executed by now . But that's obviously a faint hope; like asking if they even speak English.patricia wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... cover.html
