Repair Shops Closed

Postby country boy » Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:29 pm

Very Strange logic indeed:
My car has died, I think from a Diesel Problem, whilst still in my garage on my fica in the Campo.
The government,I am told, has closed all Garages/Repair shops to private motorists and told them that can only serve the freight industry during the close down.
So no Grua and no mechanic. I live 4 miles from town and we are currently only able to obtain supplies by borrowing a neighbours car.
Can this be right? Are the roadsides to be filled with broken down cars?
Any advice would be appreciated.

"Car Garages for Repairs" are specifically allowed to trade. They must adopt safeguarding, and work with the doors closed. Try your insurance company for a grua?

Please check your facts Dude, according to my man, the Government changed the rules last night! He had a visit this morning from the "Man" and they stopped him dead. He's had to lay two mechanics.

I think you will find the goverment only allows repairs of commercial vehicles from midnight Sunday. New tightening of lockdown law.

HOLD IT!
I have been through the BOE and cannot find the “garage” entry. It looks possible that the usually very reliable translations provided by the N332 police may have mixed up the latest version? It dies not help that the BOE number seems to stay the same, but revisions are only identified by date. I have asked for clarification but suggest holding back on waving these posts under the funcionario’s nose!

But just like the translation I quoted, the actual wording cannot be found in the BOE of Sunday.
There are bound to be anomalies- like the fact that shops selling newspapers are permitted to open, but going to buy a paper is not listed as a valid reason to go out!
Unless I have missed it there is also no mention in the law about having to use your nearest supermarket, or wear masks/gloves?
There is obviously a range of operating - those businesses that must be open, those allowed to open (with restricted hours or not) and those not allowed to open.

Have you actually tried calling the Grua ? Your insurance company would tell you if there was no Grua, rather than relying on what other people tell you.

Mobile mechanic if you think it is an easy fix?

Our 4x4 split a hose last week. Quite a serious issue for OH. If it was our only car we could have got someone to come and do a fix (assuming they could get the hose).

suspected that might be the case. Push it down the road past the "home limit".

I would apply common sense to the situation. Problem will be the repairman getting parts.
