Hi
Anybody know what documents are required when a British Female Resident of Spanish died a few months ago.Her Disabled Husband is still alive and has no interest in the Car. There are no Spanish Assets besides the Car. The Inheritor lives in England with no ties to Spain at all. My Friend wishes to buy this Car for Euros 1000.00. The Inheritor in England is quite happy with this agreement and will be gladly happy to sell this vehicle to my friend. This car is still registered in the deceased's name with a valid ITV until next year. I believe this Lady had no Will drawn up either in UK or Spain.
Many Thanks
David

If there was no will how do you know who the inheritor is?
Were they Spanish residents, if so do they have assets in UK?

Hi Sid
The Lady just said verbally that her Son can take over the Car on her Death. The husband has no interest in it as he is disabled

You didn’t answer my question about UK assets.
Without a will, it doesn’t matter what she said, it could take months to sort out and no one can touch the car until it has been sorted. My advice is walk away from it and buy something else.

Re: Transferring a vehicle after death
Ten years ago I bought a car from a friend whose husband had died a few weeks previous, car was in his name.
She went to the gestoria with me in Estepona, they just needed to see their marriage certificate and his death certificate plus copy of NIE and passport and it all went through transferred to my name OK.
In my case his widow was here in Spain though and she came to the gestoria with me. In your friends case it may be a bit more complex.
I will PM you the gestoria details, she is very well known in Estepona, she'll advise you.

This comes up alot with classic cars... and the circumstances are normally "ignored / not mentioned".. and rather a "reciept" is shown with the owners NIE and signiture on it.

For some people 1000 euros is alot of money / takes them time to save up. it IS worth it, to them.
not everyone has the oppertunities that "we" do.
