Immobilizer problem

Postby simon.birkby » Wed May 19, 2021 7:35 am

Hi,

I have a 2001 Honda CRX that wont start because of (I believe) an immobilizer problem - the green key symbol no longer appears on the dashboard when I turn the ignition on. The engine turns over fine and I've tried changing out the complete set of ECU, key and key-reader already.

Can anyone recommend a mobile specialist who might be able to fix it? I live in Orgiva.

I'd assume that you are using the new key fob that came with the new set of locks ?

We have loads of cars that do this, but normally locking / unlocking sorts it out - could be the key not being seen by the inmobilisor ?

I thought that the engine would not turn over if it was immobilised? My car doesn't like it if I leave the key in it when I've turned it off and left the car. When I try to restart it nothing happens at all. It's happened to a few hire cars too (I've had to get out, lock the door, unlock and get back in to make it start).

Yes it's a complete matched set: key, key-reader and ECU

No, it turns over but there's a big relay that powers the injector and ignition circuits and that doesn't get a signal to operate (although it works fine).

There should be a green key-shaped light on the dashboard that comes on and goes out if all is well, or stays on flashing if not. It isn't coming on at all.
