You all kindly helped with a question I had before, so another one please.
I have sold my car to an private individual with a sales contract and the paperwork has gone to a Gestoria. The insurance is with Liberty Seguros and was paid for by credit card.
Firstly, the broker has sold the car insurance can not be cancelled until I provide the Justificante Certificate.
Secondly, they are saying insurance premiums can only be refunded to a bank account and not to the original payment method.
Are they telling me correctly or just trying to keep the money longer?
The local car tax was taken from my bank account in August. Can you get a refund on the period left after selling?
Many thanks
Sold my car (Spanish registered left hand drive) as a Non Resident
Re: Sold my car (Spanish registered left hand drive) as a Non Resident
I have had a refund of car tax when I have scrapped a car after showing the document certifying the scrapping.
Can't see why you shouldn't get a refund after you have sold your car from the time the new owner has registered in his name.
Cheers

No, the owner of the car on Jan1 is liable for the whole years tax. No refunds.

I've had 2 refunds for cars I have scrapped.
Perhaps it doesn't apply to cars that are sold and ownership transferred.

Thanks for replies.
Not so bothered about the car tax.
The refusal to cancel car insurance is what's getting me and wondered whether anyone else had the same experience.

In Spain it seems that when you take out insurance it is for the period contracted, no refunds.

Gerry, you are right, it only applies to scrapped vehicles, but not to resales.
