Fuel coming down 20 cents

Postby olive » Wed Mar 30, 2022 1:54 pm

In case anyone hasn’t seen the news, fuel is coming down Friday 1 st April by 20 cents a litre. 15 courtesy of the government and 5 from the oil companies. Apparently the stations won’t be able to put their prices up excessively in the meantime,

Nice to read that the government have stopped the fuel companies adding 20 cents before hand.

Just walked past our local BP station and the prices advertised are the same as yesterday  I expected them to have come down 20c.

The discount is applied when you pay. Pump prices are not changed.

The filling stations have to find the 20 up front then get it from the government later. Margins at the stations are tight so expect some bankruptcy.

Good to know. Is there any update on if the prices are coming down again?

A link to any price table road map would be great, but I doubt it exists.

Want to know if I should wait on a trip.

Brent crude is at or around March prices on the news that the EU won’t be having Russian oil.

I cannot see it coming down for months. Might go even higher.

It will be interesting to see what the government replace the 20 cents discount with ( if anything). It doesn’t really target less well off drivers.

strangley enough, i had to fuel up last night.

locally to me (on the churriana road, and in las americas etc) the price is between 2.09 and 2.15 a litre.

In mijas on the coin road, the two petrol stations (one is petroprix, i cant remember the other, but it has an attendant), its only 2.026 ! a massive difference over 40-50 L .

I don't fill up much but I've noticed since the last time I did it around 6 weeks ago, unleaded 95 rising from around 1.89 to 2.15 but since last week it has gone down again and is now 2.02 in my local petrol station.

Prices seem to be falling quite fast now. I’m on the Costa Blanca and will be travelling back on Saturday. I have seen the prices drop from around 1.95 euros to around 1.77 in around the 10 days sine I travelled down and that is down from the peak of 2.15 a few weeks ago.
Are the prices dropping this fast in the UK?

Yes,
I used cash the last time and paid less than I expected. By credit card, I put In around 80 euros worth and get charged around 70 euros.

I got caught with this one as one time i put in something like €70 and paid cash at counter, later i put in something like the same and paid with card and ot the discount.
There is 20c discount off fuel but we get it as extra fuel or if we fill as i did second time we get discount per litre.
The attendent had a few beers on me that day whoich is ok.
It's actually a pretty clever idea by the Government as they never reduced the price at the pumps i visited anyway.
I assume the same everywhere.
