Missing Dogs

Postby tt » Sun Jan 09, 2011 4:51 pm

Our two dogs managed to escape through the fence and have been missing for a week now. Can anyone tell me the procedure to report them missing please. I think they may have joined in and followed the dogs used for shooting here in the campo and as one is a labrador will be seen as a useful acquisition,

Thanks

Don't know how to report them missing but where abouts are you? Other forum users could keep a look out for them if we know where they have gone missing. Can you post pics?

I assume your dogs are microchipped as required by Spanish law?
The dogs will probably be taken to the local police/ animal pound/ rescue centre where they will be scanned for a microchip.

Rescue centres can only contact you if your phone numer is up to date. Best to be proactive and contact all the local rescue centres and vets, giving them the microchip details (assuming they have one)

Hi,
Andalucia has a central database for micro chipped dogs and cats.
Best also to have the old fashioned "dog tags" with info on as well.

Hope by now you have been reunited...........
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Hi I'm not sure if this is related but we were driving down the motorway in Seville on Sunday 2nd Jan and saw a Lab running around on the path/fields next to the motorway, it would have been somewhere between Estepa and Osuna but can't say for sure where! We noticed it as it looked too healthy and happy to be a stray, it was having a great time and we assumed the owner must be nearby somewhere. I wish I had seen this earlier so if it's yours you could have gone looking :(

Thanks for all your comments.
Went along to the Guardia with a photo and microchip card for the chocolate lab and they did not seem concerned that we had no papers for the other one when we explained that we had taken it in to feed it as it was a stray campo dog (true).
All details taken to be entered on the computer together with our phone number. Have to say they seemed to take the report seriously. We will carry on searching.

Thanks

If it was a campo dog maybe it has found it's way back to where it lived before?

Hi,

The best ways to report you missing pet is:-

Go to your local vets and report your pet as missing by giving them the microchip card, should he/she be found then the vet has to contact you a.s.a.p

Print posters and place them anywhere you can think of.

Report to all dog refuge & dog catchers (can be done by email)

Contact the SEPRONA part of the Guardia Civil, as its campo area they have to be on the look out as its there job (they are not part of the normal guardia civil)

Go onto www.perrosperdido.com /.es they will email all vets in your area.

Apart from that hope for the best.
