Saw an amazing sight this morning - what we think was a flock (well over 20) of booted eagles soaring in the morning thermals. They seemed to be heading north, presumably migrating ( tho our bird book indicates this is rather late - maybe the bad weather has delayed them ?).
Hubby managed to get them on camcorder, but I think it will be a little wobbly, as he had it on a high zoom level ! If I can get a decent still from it, I will post it

Re: Booted eagles
Are you sure they were Eagles? They don't usually fly in groups like that.
Vultures look much the same and commonly fly in large numbers.

Re: Booted eagles
We visited my daughter in Coin last week and saw about 25+ Griffon Vultures,?? so i wonder if that was what you saw, but the crossing near Gib last year we saw what you think you saw, and i think you could be right, most of the birds that use the thermals to cross do come in large numbers
this is a booted eagle that flies over us here.you can see beside it's head, is what is called it's headlights
