Sending a horse to France - URGENT!!!!

Hi all,

urgent question - can you send a horse to another country on it´s Libro de Indentificacion Caballar or does it need a passport?

My girlfriend has sold her horse and we have been waiting 2 months for the passport, which means 2 months of stabling plus costs to get passport which at the moment are around 1200 euros or more , money being needlessly wasted whilst we wait and wait. The delay is with the laboratory which needs to compare the horses blood before expediting the passport.
