Our beautiful kitten is missing

Postby oliveview01 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 10:22 pm

Our 7 month old kitten has gone missing. We have been out calling her for hours. She normally comes running as soon as she hears the call, she is better than the dogs at coming when called, we say she thinks she is a dog. I hand reared her from 3 days old. She is usually in the garden, but today took herself off, I was unpacking the shopping and did not notice her go missing. We thought we heard meowing a little while ago, but it stopped, we think it was the neighbours weathervane squeeking. Worried sick, as there were a pack of terrier type dogs in the campo behind our neighbours house and a galgo too.

Hope you find her soon :(

We had unloaded the car and shut the gate, Mili was in the bathroom (we put her in there when we go out) We let her out when we got in the house, she rushed past me as I was going in the front door, I joked about her being in a hurry. That was the last I saw of her. I should have realised as I was sorting the meat to freeze she had gone awol, she is always trying to stick her nose in where food is concerned!
Going out for another call of Mili....

Oh dear. Hopefully she is okay. Numerous times I think my cat has gone missing and turns up a couple of hours later telling me about her adventure.
Hope you find her soon.

We found her.... it wasn´t the weather vane, it was Mili. I was out at 2.30am calling for her (not loudly cos of the neighbours sleeping) and I thought I heard her meow..... but there were no more meows. At 6.30am we were both out calling her, hubby thought he heard her, from the direction of the big pine trees. But there were no more meows. In the end we took our little JR dog with us and as soon as Mili saw her she started to meow like mad (they love eachother) and she appeared through the branches (being a dark cat she was impossible to see at night) We got the ladder and got her down. We were sure we had seen the last of her. What a silly cat! Our other cat has spent a night up the neighbours other pine tree too, at least he is easily spotted being ginger and white.
She is staying close to us today.

I tried to update first thing this morning, but the site would not let me, so fingers crossed now

Glad to hear you have found her.

All our cats have collars with bells on - we can usually hear where they are even if they don't meow.

There you go! All is well. :D

I have two jingly bells on my cat, it helps!! Plus it helps give birds a chance, though crickets etc are not so smart.

That's good news. She must have been really scared. Hopefully she won't try to climb pine trees again!

Bells on collars? Some vets say it can drive a cat crazy.

I am so glad your lovely kitten had been found before I read this post as I know I would have been going through all your anxieties too. What a relief for you. :D I spent a similar night to yours once when my cat went missing. I was walking around at all hours of the night calling her name and thinking I could hear her mewing sounds. I was lucky too and managed to pinpoit the noise to my neighbours pool room. So in the morning all was resolved, and I hope she doesn't venture into open cupboards and sheds again.
