Cat Tx

Postby morlandg » Tue Nov 06, 2012 2:35 pm

Our aging cat (?16) has started to limp and has an obvious problem with her rear right leg/hip.
Which medicines can we safely give her before we get to see the vet?

Nothing apart from keeping her in a warm dry place and try and restrict her movement. She really needs to see the vet.
You can spend, minutes, hours, days, weeks or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened - or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f**k on.

Arnica will help until you get to the vet's although, I hope you won't have to wait too long for an appointment.

Same here. I can make an appointment for routine injections etc but if one of my animals is suffering I just turn up and am seen between other people's appointment times or immediately if the animal is really suffering.
Cheers

The vet will probably give it iburofen if its for old age aches and pains.

Don't give her anything with paracetamol in it is poisonous to cats! Keep her warm and dry and if possible make her a bed with a hot waterbottle in it so the warmth is near the painful area and get her to a vet asap. I hope it all goes well for her as she is so old it may be arthritis.

Thanks to you all for your advice and concern. I'll let you know what the vet prescribes.
