Hi jenny1960,
Alternative.......I've used a Pet courier to transport dog between Spain and UK, less stress , worth getting a quote.......
They will do the reverse journey too.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Thanks for your reply Enrique,
That’s another option to think about. I’d still be interested if anyone has flown their dogs out of curiosity

You might struggle to get a flight, most, if not all LoCos do not carry freight. Perhaps only British Airways, and brace yourself, expect £300 to £400 for the ticket !

Best to look at the DEFRA site as only certain airports are allowed to receive animals. Personally I wouldn't fly my dogs again. The last time we brought them by car and came through the tunnel, a lot less stressful. Cost us over £800 to fly two cats, probably higher now.

Birmingham airport are specialists in pet trans. Not cheap though. Not sure if any airline that operates pets flys to Spain though.

Thanks all for your replies,
I think we will look at pet courier companies or, carry on driving them ourselves

When we moved to Spain 2 years ago, we flew by Iberia from Gatwick to Malaga via Madrid with our Yorkie.
If it's a small dog, you are allowed to have the dog in a dog container on your knee.
The website specified what size the dog container should be.
As I remember, it was not very expensive.

Think that is too large for cabin, but should be able to go in hold, if you don't mind that ?
According to their website, it's 75 pounds per dog to Spain, which sounds similar to what we paid.

Thank you for the information, it’s very kind of you and I’m definitely going to look into putting them into the hold. I’ve been told not to worry about it as many dogs travel in there every year
