I would be more worried about the tax authorities thinking you had undeclared (on Form 720) property outside Spain.

Yes. That's another point. As complicated as it might get I think honesty is best — which is why I am poor and not a politician.

I honestly can't see how a care of address on the bank account makes any difference to my Spanish residency? Our property in UK is declared on the 720 my savings etc are declared, the UK house will be rented out. I have simply followed the advise of the bank and used a care of address. I don't really want to change direct debits etc as things can go wrong . As for confusion i agree. I am just passing on what I was told and how my bank worked around it.

As far as tax is concerned, just because your name as registered at an address doesn't mean you own it so it shouldn't be a problem. It would be more to do with Barclaycard's terms, if they are OK with a contact address in the UK.

I also agree that residency should not be affected.

I totally agree and my branch in UK are quite happy for us to use a care of address and use online banking.

If your bank is quite happy and even suggests a co address then theres no issue. The problem thats come up are uk banks saying you have to have a uk address to hold the account ie be a uk resident.

Thanks, elusive. That's it, in a nutshell.
