El Cid: many thanks for your "simple guide to income tax for residents in Spain."
However, being maybe a bit simpler than those you wrote it for , could I ask for just one more point to be covered?
Is the maximum that an indvidual resident can earn in Spain - without needing to pay any tax at all:
A: The personal allowance of 5151
B: The personal allowance 5151 PLUS the general allowance 2652 (ie: 7803 in total)
C: None of the above
??

You get the personal allowance of 5151 plus the general allowance of between 4080 – 2652 and any age allowance that applies.

Re: Spanish Income Tax for residents FAQ
So - by my calculations - aged 56, I could earn 9,200 euros p.a. from my pension without needing to pay any income tax. That'll do for me
Thanks,
John

Bear in mind that this just refers to your liability to pay tax not your obligation to submit a tax return.

Beachcomber,
Understood - I think. I've been doing tax-returns for years now even though there's been no tax to pay. I've tried explaining to other ex-pat residents that they should be doing this but to no avail. Anyway, I'm just in the process of sorting out my pension now and - because I have control over how much is paid and when - I was interested in the the amount I could draw tax-free.
