Re: NIE Certificate renewal
Dear Enrique,
As in the title - I am not renewing my NIE number - just the certificate.
The green certificate is only valid for three months, I need a new one and my last one is more than three months old.
The previous posts which I have read by the way, are a little confusing, which is why I posed the question.
I am sure that you do not mean to come accross in your response as you do, but I suppose that can not be helped.
Perhaps an explanation of the forms and their purposes in the FAQ's would help

Can you be quite clear just what it is that you are trying to renew?Rookiekookie wrote:Dear Enrique,

The green certificate you have sounds like the Certificate of Registration for EU foreigners. If so that does not need renewing.
An NIE certificate is white and does not need renewing.
The only certificate that I am aware of that is only valid for 3 months is a Padron certificate and it doesn't actually show an expiry date.

Ah ha - now my penny has dropped .... I think ...
So the green NIE only needs renewing for a change of name or address
The padron only lasts for three months
Simples .... now .... I think .....

Re: NIE Certificate renewal
No wonder people have problems with their Spanish when they cannot take in simple English - nickienackierookiecookie still refers to the Certificate of Registration for EU foreigners as identified by Sid as "the green NIE ".

Re: NIE Certificate renewal
No, it's for life, no need to renew unless you leave the country for more than 2 years unbroken absence.Rookiekookie wrote: So the green NIE only needs renewing for a change of name or address
And it is not an NIE, it is a "certificado de registro como residente comunitario".
Your criticism of Enrique is a little unfair as you started the post with a question arising from a misunderstanding and non sequiturs. I think we are all pretty sure what we are talking about now.
If you wish to get a new certificado de registro como residente comunitario for some reason or another, you need to complete form EX18.

Hi - I have just posted our experience re changing our Tarjeta de Residence for the EU cert - you might like to view it. viewtopic.php?f=41&t=28451

Re: NIE Certificate renewal
Gasman's post once again highlights how the Samara thing ids done entirely differently in different parts of Spain.
We got our new green certificates from Torre del Mar police station.
No appointment possible or needed.
Just turned up and had our certificates in less than an hour,
the slowest part of the process was walking to, queuing and walking back from the bank to pay the fee.
Cheers
