Signing off sick when autonomo

Postby Jool » Wed Apr 04, 2012 10:01 am

I work as Autonomo and now need time off from working for some medical treatment and procedures, including surgery. I don´t know how long it will be for. I believe there is a way of going sick so my contributions are still covered (and thus my health care continues) without doing the normal dar de baja as if closing down?

Does anyone have any experience or info on this please?

Yes there is & also you can possibly claim sick-pay .see here chapter 3;
http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/e ... ain_en.pdf

If you look at the last paragraph in chapter VI you'll see that it is also posible to claim a non-contributory pension for those living on an income below the minimum & who have never paid soc. sec. in Spain. The things you find trawling ! :lol:

Sorry , I've no idea. I only post the info, never had cause to test this.Think you'll have to ask at the soc.sec office.

Thank you for all your help - for info for others it is a P9 form you need from your Doctor. You need to get it every fortnight and you send it on to your Mutua and they pay you - payments are erratic, different amounts every time, but they are still payments so more than I expected which was nothing!!

I'm sorry That's not correct. If you are a autonomo, you are entitled to free health care.
