How to pay parking fine in Fuengirola??

Postby lynndm » Sun Jan 25, 2015 7:05 pm

Last week we parked in a space in front of the Jabega Hotel on the sea front at 20:20 and totally forgot that parking charges apply up to 21:00. When we came out to drive home, my husband didn't realise that the small piece of paper he found under the windscreen was a parking fine until 2 days later when he pulled it out of his coat pocket just as we were on our way out to fly back to England! When we read the back of the ticket, annoyingly, we were too late to pay within the 24-hour cancellation period where you pay 3-euros in an envelope which, by the way, was not with the ticket so can anyone please explain the procedure to pay this fine which shows 60 euros on the ticket. We've been advised by a neighbour that the parking ticket admin office is opposite the bus station so we have asked friends who live in Spain to pay it this week on our behalf as we don't return to Spain for 5 weeks. We are also wondering if, by paying early, the fine is likely to be only 50%. Any advice on whether the information above is correct or not is very welcome.

Your friends would need the original ticket to pay the fine for you. Was it a hire car or your own? If its a hire car they will charge your credit card and pay on your behalf. If its your car I don't think 5 weeks will make much difference as you have missed the window for a cancellation and discount.

Thank you for your reply. It was our own car and we have given them the original ticket so hopefully they can pay on our behalf without any problems. We were also advised that until the payment has been made any discounts on, for example, our town hall charges, can be affected which is why we didn't want to delay the payment - are you aware of that?
