Our Community AGM has been postponed because of the Coronavirus situation. I've suggested to our Administrator that perhaps it could be held using Zoom. They have replied saying that it would not be possible as people have to attend in person and that the law would have to be changed or a royal government degree would have to be issued to allow it.
Being a bit of a sceptic I would be interested in other people's views on this.
Holding an AGM via Zoom?
Re: Holding an AGM via Zoom?
Sounds like a cop out to me. If you had to attend in person how would a proxy vote work.

Re: Holding an AGM via Zoom?
Hi All
Maybe the law is different in Spain, but I have already attended two AGM's for UK Charities by Zoom - not a problem, all very efficient, and a much greater attendance at both meetings than would otherwise been the case - even in the 'old normal'......
Stay Safe

Hi,
Some light reading on the correct way to use Zoom.................

Mrs E uses Zoom regularly for Meetings and has not had any problems.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Re: Holding an AGM via Zoom?
'I'm using the Zoom every day and I use the security features in the Post from Enrique. I have to send a few people the link via email but I tell people it's much better using the meeting ID code and password. The other security measure, which came into effect about a month ago, is.the room waiting, feature which means that people have to be given permission to enter the meeting.
It's important to know who you are expecting to join so as not to allow anyone enter who is not recognised. There is also a ban feature which I haven't used because it stops anyone reentering. If there were any problems of this type, I would just set up a new meeting with new codes.
The reason I use it is that it's much easier to use than Skype and others I have tried for larger groups I also have the paid version to allow me to create a virtual classroom but for most people the free version would be fine because apart from the 40 minute limit, there isn't any difference as far as I can see.
I have no problem with one to one calls on Skype but to set up a group meeting for the first time as nowhere near as easy as Zoom,

Re: Holding an AGM via Zoom?
Many Thanks for all your comments.
Like Enrique I think that it is just a cop out by our Administrators.
We are a small community of 18 owners from several nationalities and normally we only have a few who attend the AGMs.
I would have thought that Zoom would be the perfect answer given the current situation and we possibly would have had more owners involved than usual.
It will be interesting to see what develops as the year progresses as I understand that according to the law an AGM must be held each year.
