Modelo 210 post Brexit

Postby probe » Wed Oct 06, 2021 10:29 am

We are resident in the UK and rent our place when we are not in Spain. We have rented for the first time since the onset of the pandemic and Brexit this summer.

Our lawyers do our Modelo 210 and have informed me that post Brexit as we are now "non-EU" tax rate to apply goes from 19% to 24% of the rental income and no reduction of expenses is allowed.

I suspect this has been covered before but I couldn't easily locate. Is this correct? If so, it will make completing the form much easier and something that I will now take on myself. At the end of the day I have to pay tax in both Spain and UK but with this more will be paid in Spain and less in UK.

We're pretty much in the same position. Can anyone confirm if the 24% rate and abolition of deductable expenses apply to the 2021 tax year?

Hola

Yes it all changes as the UK is now a third country, not part of the EU. The EU get treated better and you can legally be discriminated against because you are not an EU citizen.

So if I am filling in the form now for 2020 is it 24% or is it for 2021 payable next year?

The return for 2020 is 19%
The return for 2021 is 24%

Brexit. The gift that keeps on giving.

Discriminated against is probably the wrong word! More like the rate is ? If you are a member of a club and ? If you are not.

No point having a club if theres no benefits of being in it. The uk asked to be "discriminated" against. After all they all knew what they were voting for as as they liked to keep saying.
