Hello all,
I have decided to sell my Spanish home and return to the UK to live permanently. I remember reading that it is important to plan a return to the UK carefully, as depending on when a person becomes a UK resident again, they could be liable for UK capital gains tax on the proceeds made from abroad (Spain). I haven't sold my Spanish property yet and will stay here in Spain until it is sold. Only then will I return to the UK to live. As I will already be paying Spanish CGT, do I need to be concerned about whether I sell my Spanish property and return to live in the UK during the same tax year?
I would appreciate any advice in this regard.
Thanks
Returning to UK with Spanish sale proceeds
