gas pressures? are they differnet ?

been offered a "natural gas" heater..

are the pressures for these and "bottle" heaters really that different?

or can i use it on a bottle ?

i know when dad fits a cooker he has to change the jets on it to make it burn better ... not sure if you have to change them tho ?

I think it is all a case of the fuel to air ratio SL, strictly different for butane, propane and natural gas. If you want the best flame, match burner to fuel.

You have to change the Jets and the Burners SL, if it's a boiler

Butane runs at 28mb and propane at 37mb so not only are the pressures different to mains gas but as Country Boy has suggested you'll need to get it re-jetted to run on the above which most manufacturers will offer as a retrofit provided its a modern boiler.

We use both the aluminium and orange gas bottles and the internal presures are bound to vary with temperature and how much is in there -

Its the regulators job to suppy contant pressureof gas to the appliance(s).

But .... I have noticed that some Gases are hotter than others - How can that be ????

Propane boils at -47C whilst butane boils at 0C so essentially once the ambient temperature approaches OC, then butane cannot boil off inside the cylinder to produce a vapour.

Realistically, butane is most efficient between 13C - 20C so if your boiler is externally mounted alongside the cylinder then butane will struggle to produce enough vapour pressure for the boiler to burn. It also doesn't help that Spanish cylinders are so small which further reduces the offtake regardless of the regulator which inhibits its usefulness on appliances with larger KW offtake requirements.

I'm assuming that's what you meant by 'gases being hotter'?

Sort of - I think..

When we use the orange gas bottles in the room heater - its seems to be hotter, when you stand infront of it, than when we use the alluminium ones
