Transport Strike Starting Friday

we need to get to the airport on friday to pick people up.
does anyone know of a garage with diesel between Huelva and Sevilla that still has diesel.....(at the moment )
(plus i was looking forward to another trip to isla magica tomorrow....without the neieces and nephews this time )

been to my local mankys this afternoon,no fresh meat at all,hardly any water,completely ransacked..
my normal garage this morning didnt have any petrol,so went to another one..ques up to the roundabout,but i filled my bike,and was too to fill up my gerry can as well,so left it empty..On the way home this afternoon my normal garage had petrol back in stock...

The Spanish government said it would announce measures tomorrow to ease the strain of fuel price rises, in the hope of reaching a deal with lorry drivers by midweek. The measures included allowing hauliers to make financially favourable changes to their contracts during times of economic hardship. The government would also give €55m (about £43.6m) in aid to drivers who wanted to retire early.

the petrol stations are still having fuel delivered, so even if they run out they will later be restocked..the end of the world hasn´t arrived yet

A similar story at our local Mercadona. No eggs. Hardly any bread. Not many fresh vegetables. Hardly any meat. This was this afternoon.

We usually go after 2 p.m. to miss the morning rush, but today we lingered longer over lunch after the disappointment of the English bookshop in Torre del Mar being reformed and closed until 22nd June.

We will try the local village shop tomorrow, I hope they have some onions.

Thank goodness we have hens at least we can eat eggs if nothing else (and courgette and cucumbers- toms almost ripe too). Going to be good and try to empty the freezer- it could do with a clear out- kill two birds then as the saying goes-- save both fuel and money on food I must confess I did bulk buy yesterday An extra bag of dog food- can´t have my doggies going hungry

Did an airport run this evening to jerez, saw a filling station on the way, pulled in, felt quite lonely, me and the gas pumper on the forecourt. Loads of petrol and diesel.

Oliveview I know what you mean about freezer food we could probably live for a month on stuff in the freezer, why do we buy it and not eat it,
loads of veggies and rice mixtures , about 1 million orange ice lollies as I am adicted to lemon mercadona lollies but hate the orange ones.
I think large tins of tuna are handy if things get worse.

Why don't they go and demonstrate in Saudi Arabia or some of the other oil-producing countries that are causing the increase in the price? (If they dare)

It's not the oil producing countries, it is the Chinese market with a hughe demand. Which - in turn - regulates the price.

In the past the European leaders made a big mistake to support China, and the executives in the companies moved their production to China because the wages had been lower. Now all of us have to pay the bill for our lousy mind to get everything 'cheaper'.

The current socialist government may be responsible for most of the country's current woes but the price of oil is one thing that can't be laid at Rodríguez's door.

Know what? Germany still pays billions of 'development aid' to China, none of the leaders seems to know that China features the largest monetary reserves in this world.

Not to forget that almost 80% of the gasoline price is the tax the European governments impose on fuel. In Germany it works this way:

1 liter fuel = Euros X
plus import tax = Euros XX
plus fuel tax =Euros XXX
plus environment tax = Euros XXXX
plus 19% VAT (IVA) = Euros XXXXX

So the governments are the ones who drove the gasoline prices way up.

In Germany they consider to increase the price for gas for 40% in September. Plus environment tax, plus 19% VAT of course.

I would not get in the way of some of my spanish neighbours if they are after food in the shops ....very sharp elbows
no shortages so far but a group of men are blockading the road into Rute nea to Lucena tonight to stop lorries . Local builders yard today received some threatening calls and so are not delivering any supplies...typical when we have finally started building!.

strike nearly over, lorry drivers have accepted a deal all except 2 of the unions, they say the strike will continue until the other 2 unions accept.

Sure, because postal service trucks need diesel as well - which is running short

In the large cities many gas stations are already closed or put up signs that they don't have any diesel anymore.

Talking to a friend yesterday, he told me he’d been to his local supermarket and it was “only the Brits ‘panic buying’, the Spanish are just getting on with their lives”.

Me? I’m staying at home and digging into the back of cupboards and the freezer to find food I haven’t seen for a while and eating this first.

I’m sorry for anyone that is badly affected by this situation, but I’m expecting (hoping) it will be over soon.

just heard that eroski petrol station in fuengerola has closed.

the bp at the top of alhaurin only has 98. the one on gerald brenan has no diesel, the one down the bottom seems to be ok, well it was yesterday-

and my mate was in gib yesterday and he says all the garages were blocked by police, they had all run out ?
