Ordering from Amazon

Postby shortfuse » Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:59 pm

If ordering books from Spain, to be delivered in Spain, is it best to order from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com or Amazon.frog?
Slightly concerned about expensive carriage costs.

I always use .co.uk and dont think p and p is that bad, beware of ordering from .com as you risk having to pay douanas as well.

For music and books take a look at fnac.es as do have some books in English.

As PP says, it's worth comparing prices at www.play.com as they don't charge carriage within the EU, and can be a bit cheaper than Amazon.

Book Depository free world wide delivery, often better than amazon´s total prices.

Thank you all for your responses.
Book Depository came out the best for my requirements.
They had the books I wanted (various interpretations of Spanish history), were cheaper than Amazon and post free!
I also found the accessability to various book reviews excellent.

When I ordered from Play.com using my Spanish card and delivered to my Spanish address (same addresses) they wanted me to send a copy of a bank statement, needless to say I didn't bother to continue with my order. Has it changed now as I may consider using them again.

Thank you Pilgrim for the information about the book depository. I had heard of them before but not actually used them. Mother wanted a book she had heard about on the TV and I checked out Amazon and then having read this thread, I then looked at the Book Depository and found the book she wanted considerably cheaper. It is on it's way to us as I type :D

i have just had a look at the website http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE ... browse.php

really good isnt it..it must be something to do with amazon as there are links at the bottom right of each book to buy from amazon themselves...
still a decent online bookstore tho,and the free delivery makes it well worthwhile. :D
