Duvet in the sun
Duvet in the sun
After a beautiful summer, I collected my Duvet yesterday from its temporary home at the dry cleaners, its been living there since mid June, so that makes 3 and a half months of the year when I´m comfortable without a Duvet in Andalucia.
Is this the norm?

Re: Duvet in the sun
We have the summer weight one on now. it will stay there until the nights get warmer again. The winter one is too warm. If it gets really cold I use a crochet blanket on my side, hubby says it´s too hot with it on the bed!!
When we had friends stay last year they had the heater on in the room all night, the electric blanket that can be left on all night if needed, a sheet, a winter weight quilt, a blanket and a bedspread and they said it was cold! Think the friend needs to invest in thermal pjs´instead of flimsy nighty Oh and the friend had a hotwater bottle too

Re: Duvet in the sun
well they were very popular in my mother's day ( )...sorta look like crochet ...ie string vest but smaller holes!!! You used to be able to get them in very lightweight wool or cotton and they are brill ....kinda 'gently' warm if you know what I mean!!!... And of course breathable...absolutely perfect for over here when it's too warm for a duvet but too cool for just a sheet. Saves a lot of the 'chucking the covers off, pulling them back on half an hour later' cycle!!!
Does that help???

Yes that helps
They sound like a great idea for over here.

I've a feeling I saw some in Bed Linen Direct last year, and although they were synthetic -- ie not pure wool but a lightweight synthetic mix -- they are considerable better than 'solid' covers.......otherwise, check out the charity shops!!!

Re: Duvet in the sun
My 13.5 tog stays on the bed all year, albeit folded on my feet in the summer months (and sometimes gets kicked off onto the floor). It is definately up around my neck now that the nights have turned cooler .
Re: Duvet in the sun
No duvet here yet and I live near Olive view o1.Havent used the duvet since May.
Re: Duvet in the sun
.... oh, and I forgot to mention the bedsocks (winter months only )
Re: Duvet in the sun
Gosh! some of you must live in some cold places. I have a reputation for being "nesh" but still don't have a duvet on. Cotton sheet and a thinnish quilted spread...just right after all the hot nights.

Re: Duvet in the sun
I had to look up the word "nesh" to see what it meant!
My duvet went on this last week. In midwinter it is joined by a blanket and I too am a vision of sartorial elegance in pyjamas and socks. No hot water bottle but I find a hot Staffie under the duvet is wonderful Plus heating of course...yes, it gets bloomin cold up here!

Re: Duvet in the sun
It seems to have been a really short summer, we put our duvets away at the end of May and I am getting them out again tonight!!! I was frozen last night with a sheet and fleece blanket on so all the duvets are coming out!!! I thought we would be sweltering for most of the year

I took our duvets off at the end of may and have just put them back on
...it gets chilly here at night, don't think it will be long until we light the fire
