It's snowing

Postby hillybilly » Wed Nov 26, 2008 3:22 pm

Well this is a novelty for November...it's snowing up here! Temperature has been steadily dropping all day, sky clouded over and then it snowed!

That weather sounds very familiar to me here in Gloucestershire  The problem is I've got the plumbers here putting in a new central heating boiler - a lot of fun in a house that's 600 years old with metre thick walls- I just wish they'd close the doors from time to time! And it doesn't end there because on Friday I'm having an old inglenook opened up - looking for a pot of gold - fat chance

Winter has certainly arrived this morning :( I went to Mollina market, thought my feet were going to fall off they were so cold  There was a small snow shower in the afternoon there, nothing much to talk about though.

Well that makes me feel a bit better, stuck here in the cold of York - we had a light dusting of snow at the weekend and it's just been miserable and mostly wet since.

Def. going to go and buy a cover for our winter quilt tomorrow now. Up till now have been using the summer one, but I need the winter quilt :( We have ´UK´ covers and I bought a Spanish quilt- didn´t realise the sizes were different. So tomorrow a new cover is being bought. Wonder if I can get a fleecy one?

When we were in France last month I bought a pair of really fleecy pj´s they only cost 5.99€ and are wonderful, well they feel wonderful, probably look naff  but who cares...... I´m warm :D After 33 years of marriage who cares!! Wish I had bought a few pairs now :(
Supposed to be back to 9 deg in the mornings by the weekend, but heavy rain instead. Can´t complain, sure we still need lots of rain for the water levels.
Getting a load of wood delivered next week, so we will stay nice and snug. Last winter we shared a lorry load of wood with our neighbours, they finished theirs before the end of the winter, we are still using ours, not that there is lots left though, enough for another 2 weeks I would guess. The neighbours changed their log burner for an open fire, they burn masses more wood now and their house is nowhere near as warm as it was.
Roll on spring :D

Oliveveiw01 - I bought some fleecy pyjamas in the market in La Cala de Moral last friday. They had lots of them, nice patterns, and prices from 6 euros. I only bought one pair to see how they fitted, but I am very pleased. They are so warm.

I remember seeing them in Rincon market last year. So you will probably find some locally.

The snow has gone from Maroma now but the house is freezing. I am wrapped in all my usual clothes and also have put my fleecy dreesing gown on, but I really don't think I can last out much longer as my hands are too cold to type  . We have had heating on at night but the house retains no heat at all - oh for some insulation and double glazing!!

Come on Wicksey, don´t exagerate..........you know these Spanish houses stay cool in summer and nice and warm in winter  Roll on spring, then we will soon be moaning it is too hot to sleep
It was good though to get the rain yesterday for the garden.
Is there still snow in Campillos Dido?

Ooooppps ... silly me, I forgot   . I shall have to read those 'winter sun' holiday brochures that say how warm it is on the CDS in the winter, to remind myself how h-h-hot it is here :P
