Why I chose to live where I Do
Why I chose to live where I Do
Where ever i look from my house I have the most beautiful veiws, I could be a millionaire and not have that.
Where ever I go i am not stuck in traffic jams.
I can pop down the garden and pick a lemon for my gin and tonic.
Because it rains less than england and has beautiful long summers.
Most of the year i can sit outside for meals and am able to plan barbecues, dont have to cancel them because of rain.
My life in spain is so much more relaxed.

We can walk a few hundred yards from our house into the Doñana parque natural, stone pines and peace and quiet. I can bicycle further out in safety and tranquillity. We are blessed even if we don't have any money any more!

Re: Why I chose to live where I Do
I can leave my house and be in the bar downing a San Miguel export in less than seven minutes, the views crap though (From the bar I mean)
Ah! the full english!!
Re: Why I chose to live where I Do
Been here nearly two years so I don't know if some still class me as "New" And I'm still taken aback by the beautiful breath taking views I see wherever I go, infact i find them so amazing I'm constantly taking photo's and sending them home to scotland for my family to oggle over It's a shame some cannot appreciate what is here!!!!

Re: Why I chose to live where I Do
We chose where we live now for the outside space. I can´t say we have a ´view´ as the countryside here around us is quite flat. The peace and quiet is lovely (except when the dogs get upset and the peacocks get noisy)
It would be nice to be able to sit outside under the covered patio, except the driving rain is coming across the patio.

Better standard of living, weather, wide open spaces, healthy eating that's inexpensive, simple lifestyle, fantastic countryside, fewer worries, no commuting, feeling safe, blue skies (mostly - but it's raining like crazy at the moment).

No illegal builds or landgrabs,no worries about the Euro (apart from when we go to our house in Spain),water all the time, stable electrics, being able to go down the garden and pick a turnip (ok its horrible in a G&T ),nice tasting beef,no minor works licenses needed or stroppy town halls,no ex pats with pony tails, car keeps clean, empty beaches all year round , no fear of my name on the Boletin without me knowing it,lovely countryside, being able to sit on my terrace with a good thick broth, looking forward to going to Spain, decent bread and no wasps putting me off my bbq.

You also forgot the sheer joy of wearing Shetland Wool jumpers in August on a big, empty stretch of Devon beach as the wind thrashes the waves on to the clean, white sand and makes that fantastic sucking sound as the water retreats taking the little pebbles with it.

We did last winter, almost every afternoon we were able to sit outside on the patio reading a book in the warmth- not this winter though. We did manage to eat our Christmas dinner outside in the sunshine, our friends who were staying could not believe how hot it was

"I would like to live in one of those places that you can eat outside on the terrace most of the year!".......if it was 20 degrees on your terrace on the 20th january it sounds as if you do live in one of those places!!!
Re: Why I chose to live where I Do
Those days have been few and far between this winter! I've even looked at glass blinds for around a covered terrace.
