Just completely typical!

Postby princess peach » Thu Apr 08, 2010 3:23 pm

Went to our medical centre this aft with my son who is due for his second lot of injections. We previously went to the same medical centre in Sept and got an appointment with no problems, got his jabs and got told to come back in April for the next one.

Went to book an appointment, only to be told,He wasnt registered at this medical centre,he was registered at one in town(where we first got turned away from for registering as we didnt live anywhere near the area)

The medical centre had no record of his previous jab, nothing. They just kept saying he was registered at the one in town. :?

So i gave them MY medical card....low and behold I was registered with them!!!

They told us to come back first thing in the morning with my docs, which have the medical centres stamps on and he can have his jabs and they would sort it out...

My son is only 14,we all live at the same address,All registered at the same time at the doctors 5 mins from where i live...I havent been there yet,but my son has,yet i am registered and he isnt...

I started laughing in there,I suppose after nearly 8 years of living here i am used to agro and hassles..
My son said i sounded like Staceys nutty mother off of Eastenders....I suppose i must be slightly mad...I think you have to be to cope with daily life here in Spain..

Will let you know how i get on tommorow...

Well, just a confusing update really.Ive just got back from an early trip to the medical centre.

I have been informed that when a child reaches 14,they automatically get transferred to a seperate medical centre to their parents  Hence the reason my son has been moved to the medical centre in town.If i wanted to move him NOW myself and his Dad would have to go to a different centre!!!
Unless i move my son next week(which is apparently the time to move,so we can all be together)

I now have an appointment next Thursday with someone in an office to transfer my son back to the original medical centre he was first registered with!!!
Wouldve been nice to recieve a letter telling us hed been transferred.. :(
Does anyone know why at 14 he has been moved?...why could he not have stayed in mine and hubbys medical centre..is it something to do with privacy????I dont understand this country and its stupid rules!

Simple solution - move to an area where there's only one doctors surgery!

Been back to the doctors today to transfer my son back to the original doctors we all registered with. She filled in a quick form, highlighted a few things on it,handed it to me.She told me it happens to every child in Spain when they reach 14,they automatically get transferred to another docs.
We then went and booked his injections in the original doctors, which he is having later on this aft.Problem solved.

mmmm,can relax again now. :D

I wonder why, so all the girls can go on the pill?? What a strange thing to do. Any ideas of the thiking behind it?

Jool, that was exactly my thoughts too.
I wondered if that was the reason behind swapping them at 14~but saying that,i thought ALL medical records were private???

I did ask the lady why(or my son did)and she just said its just what happens here aged 14.

Im sure my son wouldnt be off on the pill anyway,so im alright with that one.

Here, one of the doctors at our surgery is a paedatrician -so could it be the doctor your son was registered with was also one? When the child reaches a certain age, I would think about 14, they get transferred to a GP. But as we only have one surgery they just get moved up the hall! It's certainly one explanation.
