32" TV (world cup approaches)
32" TV (world cup approaches)
Having read umpteen reports I've decided on a Samsung LCD LE32C450. I've checked online and it's €384 including postage from electroprecio.com
Has anyone used this firm before, or can you suggest another company?

Yes, I have and so have a number of friends on my recommendation.
Good prices, excellent after sales service etc.

We got our Samsung from Media Markt in Maria Zambrano RENFE Station in Malaga. The price was exactly the same as Electroprecio, if you wanted an alternative.
We have not required any after sales so cannot comment on that side. Love the Samsung however, excellent machine! We took it home on the train and were watching it that afternoon. What fun

Be warned though, I heard comedian Arthur Smith on the radio yesterday saying he had just bought an HD tv to watch the world cup but he is currently traumatized having seen a close up of Andrew Lloyd Webber on his new tv!

Not a pleasant prospect!

Mowser
Is 32" big enough??? I originally bought one, then realised with the widescreen (postbox) on some DVD I could not see too much (must be getting old).
So I went back to Media Markt got the 37" on offer (Phillips) and never gone back. Im now looking to upgrade to full HD with a min of 40".
I do appreciate thought that space could be an issue but Id opt for the 37" if you got the space.
Jusrt a thought

Thanks Acen for the comments. Ideally I'd like a big 100 foot monster monopolising the entire ground floor of the house, but it's all a question of space. 32" will fit just nicely. 37" would jut across a doorway.

Have to agree with Acen on this one. I've a 32 inch Samsung (stunning pic when fed with HD source) but wish it was bigger. However , as it was a present I can't really grumble. Might go in the bedroom for digital switchover here next year and a bigger one in the living room. There are issues with psu's failing in Samsung tv's apparently if you have a google.
Re: 32" TV (world cup approaches)
Its a bit like a drug, when we first came over we has a 21", that went to a 28" (not even widescreen) and we were wowwed by the difference.
That went to 32" widescreen but the picture was less (than the 28" but wider), now we have 37" its no longer enough. (how ungrateful does that sound but its true)
Once i have full HD (Humax) ill go to 40" probably 42".
is it possible to hang a 37" on the wall somewhere????
The price difference is not too much plus but the viewing enjoyments is immence.
By the way ive got a 32" Oki in the bedroom, cheap as chips from Carrefour and brilliant for £299.

Re: 32" TV (world cup approaches)
32" Samsung now ordered from Electroprecio. It was another €43.00 to extend the guarantee to 4 years. A larger screen would have been better, but It would have blocked the door. I could have put the TV on another wall but that would have meant shifting the furniture. Had I done that, the couch or one of the seats would have blocked the door. Our lounge is a bit awkward as it has three access doors. The only wall without a door has a window where the TV would have gone.
Thanks for all the advice.

It's true TV's sizes are like a drug I bought a 32" three years ago, after a short while I got used to it so 6 months ago I went for a 37".The first few months I was fine with the size, but now I've got a craving for a bigger one.

We have a 23ins one , big tube - none of this flat screen rubbish! - -weighs about half a ton - don't have to worry about it getting nicked - and as to football, who wants to watch obscenely paid illiterates (I'm generalising I know), running around ??

My old style 2822 non widescreen tv has the best picture Ive ever had on a tv.
Its been living in the garage on the floor for over a year!!! Without any possibility of ever been used again. It simply takes up too much room now and I cant even move it on my own as it weighs half a ton.
The picture quality though is amazing!!!

A 23" TV? I remember 18", 20", 21" then 24". I wasn't aware of a 23" model. Is it one of these?

Re: 32" TV (world cup approaches)
Actually I'm not sure how you measure these things -from left to right the screen is just over 23 ins but if you measure diagonally (aren't laptops measured this way?) it measures 27 ins. It's a Beko originally described as widescreen but with a tube and it takes two people to lift. (I'm sure you wanted to know all this!!) But it's a cracking tv and it's done us proud for last 8 years!! None of this temperamental thin screen stuff.

Ah but the flat screens look much better, you can have a larger screen taking up less space and my five year old niece could lift it.............................well almost

So could the baddie burglars! If my house ever gets 'done over' (heaven forbid) at least I will be safe in the knowledge that my 27ins (thanks for confirmation Sid) TV will still be in the house!markwilding wrote:Ah but the flat screens look much better, you can have a larger screen taking up less space and my five year old niece could lift it.............................well almost
