Strange object each night in the sky
Strange object each night in the sky
Anyone else seen the low "flying" object each night in the sky in the Lake Iznahar region?
My estimate is it is about 2000 to 3000 feet above ground level and at a constant height. It has one bright light on it. No audible sound. Moves reasonably quickly.
Path is roughly Cordoba to Velez Malaga and varies slightly each night.
I have seen it the last three nights but not at the same time ( varied between 9.30 and 11.30 p.m)
first night thought it might be a US drone. Much too low for a satellite. Curious!

Hi olive,
Thought you would get the sceptics commenting on your post .
I too have seen the "object", flies on a path away from the normal incoming/outgoing passenger planes and is much lower than satellites .
Thought it might be fighter plane but it makes no sound. Have had a chat with my RAF contact , thinks it could be a Solar UAV on test.

Not a sceptic at all - just couldn't resist - it was meant to be tongue in cheekEnrique wrote:Hi olive,

Actually, it's quite interesting - is there a way of finding out the flight paths of the tests ?

Hi chrissiehope,
You could well be right in your first post
I did some research when I first saw them some two years ago, but as they could be military ,then I don't think the flight paths/ flights would be in the public domain.

Re: Strange object each night in the sky
Just gone by again tonight 10.55p.m.. Different path tonight.
Iznahar to Malaga. Same height as normal. Same light. No it isn't orange.
I thought perhaps it might be google mapping but presumably that would fly by at different times?

We also watched it from our terrace on Wednesday night. It was very distinctive and travelled from Velez Malaga direction towards Caleta and out to sea where it disappeared form view. I would love to know what it is.

does it only appear after a bottle of wine?

I think it is a Space station, goes but more or less at the same time. I have seen it through my telescope when we had a "stargazers night" at lake Vinuela

Re: Strange object each night in the sky
I agree with Enrique. I presume the light is so that a conventional plane would see it if it were flying that low perhaps on descent to Granada airport.
It isn't an Iridium flare. Far too low. 2000 or less feet not 500km!
It isn't the space station. That is much higher in orbit. We have watched that many a time. We even saw the "delivery truck" separate before setting off back to earth.
What is interesting is if it appears here each evening where does it go for the remaining 24 hours? Round the world? Very curious.
