Price for Gas (Butano)

Postby peteroldracer » Fri Nov 26, 2010 3:13 pm

Does anyone know where I can check the current official price for the 12.5kg butano bottles (exchange basis)?
I can only find price for September 2010 at 12.69€ I think, whereas my local bar that sells them has just charged me 14€. Is the price really fixed, or do we have to shop around for fair prices like everything else?

I have just bought 4 Butanos (Repsol) from our local Ferreteria and they were €12.80 apiece. His prices have always seemed genuine so I think I can say that is todays official price!

I think our Repsol delivery was 12.80€ last week. Certainly within a few centimos anyway.

I suppose it is understandable that a bar sells at a higher price than the butano lorry or depot would.

I don't mind a mark-up as long as I know what it is, and if it is worth paying rather than drag myself and a bottle to a cheaper outlet. In my case it is pay he extra 1.21€ or travel 18kms round trip...
Thanks all.

I believe that the local bar is breaking the law by selling at a higher price, but I cannot back this up with a link. €12,80 is the current fixed price across the nation.

No bars, ferreterias ,supermercados , etc; that sell them on are allowed to add a % . It used to be about 70c some years ago when they were around 7€'s but would obviously increase as the price rises.

Well if you add 10% mark-up to €12.80, funnily enough, it's approx €14 :silent:

I paid the same this afternoon at the BP garage at La Trocha, albeit for a silver one, and they're normally a euro dearer than everyone else so hopefully they've seen the light.

Why shouldn't they ? You wouldn't expect to buy beer, wine, petrol or a box of screws from there at cost price.

You can find the official price here:

Bear in mind that you could be fined for carrying gas bottles in your vehicle.
