damp proof injectors

Can anyone recommend a company that deals with injecting walls to prevent dampness. I am in the Monda/Coin area.

You may have a problem with this - AFAIK this only works on a cavity wall, rare in Spain - hillbilly step forward please!

Damproof injection is to protect against rising damp in the absence of a dampproof membrane in the wall.

Just in case your last was a serious comment: As Far As I Know (AFAIK) is a common text/web abbreviation!
You might like to contact Keith @ Andalucia Damp Control (see free Brit press) as they seem to have a membrane that blocks off damp - cannot qualify the effectiveness but the guy Graham that install the stuff is a good friend and builder.

I had an old Edwardian house in the UK with rising damp.

They drilled holes in the walls and injected a silicone based liquid into the lower few courses of bricks. These then become the new damp proof course.

That was the easy bit - then all the plaster had to come off, the walls had to dry out and then be replastered.

Similar sounding house to ours in the UK Sid. We too had rising damp problems and were advised against any injection treatment as any old builders mortar or rubble in void would breach it.

We were advised, and in fact opted for the electro osmosis system which is left plugged in all the time via a consumer unit in the meter cupboard, we were sceptical about it.............but no problems in 15 years, tinder dry...........now the roof... that's a different matter

Sure it's a system that would benefit some problems on Spanish property.

Does anyone know about polystyrene put on the walls then a skim of plaster over to prevent damp, and where you can buy it. Talking to a guy in Turkey and he said it works

I think the polystyrene treatment may be what andaluciandampcontrol does? Ask for Keith

We put polystyrene on the walls of a kitchen in Scotland. Unfortunately, when it peeled off when we repapered, it revealed mould on the walls and the back of the paper. Whilst it did stop damp getting through to the interior surface it hadn't cured the initial fault of damp in the walls. All it had done was hide the problem.

Change of plan as I now plan to have ventilation vents put in and just paint when needed
