Getting your tap water tested?

Postby phil_euro » Thu Aug 18, 2011 11:17 am

Does anyone know of a lab in Spain that you can send your tap water to to get tested? Or somewhere else in Europe that accepts samples for testing?

Thanks!

Are you looking for bacterial content or mineral content or both?

I've recently had mine tested prior to having a water-softener system and reverse osmosis unit installed. The guy who installed the system arranged the testing and so I would be happy to put you in touch.

Sure, thanks (though it does seem a bit of a conflict of interest to have the person who wants to sell you a system determine whether you need the system!)

I am down the Gibraltar end... so hopefully they will come this far over.

I think there are lots of labs - we had our water tested a few years ago, and it went to a lab the local town.

Can you google for them ?

Try your local pharmacy. They usually supply sterilized bottles with which to take the sample.

If I knew what to google for I would! Any suggestions? 'Analisis de aqua' returns only reports, not companies doing it.

It is normally done by the local farmacias, just let them know what you want them to test for or ask for a full analysis

Tap water is checked regularly by the government. You can see the results at this website.

It would be an idea if posters mentioned roughly where they lived (under location).
There's a water testing facility in Frigiliana.

If you think there is a problem with your water you are much better off getting the water independently tested via the farmacia, not that I am suggesting results or statistics are fiddled here in Spain or anything like that.......

Thanks everybody!
I am going to try the farmacia route and see how that goes.
