How much are your mbile phone bills?

Postby daneinspain » Thu Sep 22, 2005 12:29 pm

Recently my bills have been in the region of 400€ a month for amena mobile phone. What does everyone else use? Is this normal?

Obviously it depends on usage - I don't use mine for international calls and I stick to the contracted cheap rates. For international I have a different mobile service costing me 15cents a minute to UK, Canada, USA, and New Zealand etc.

I recently Ditched the contract & Ditched Amena. I've halved my phone bills by switching to Movistar Pay as you go. To start with I was topping up €40 every few days. Now I don't seem to use more than €20 a week. I've still got the same amount of friends though!

I also use Movistar pay as you go for calls within Spain and international texts and it's cheaper than my UK one which I use on visits there.
Maybe they have an incredibly large amount of friends or they use it for lots of international calls, which would be very costly!!

I have three Vodafone contracted mobiles with €9 of free calls on each. An Amena for calling Amena mobiles, a Movistar for calling Movistar mobiles, Skype for international calls (although most of these are free Skype to Skype calls) and free metropolitan, provincial and interprovincial calls from Telefónica.

It's almost got to the stage where they pay me!

If when I come out next week I see someone with a pocketful of mobiles, I'll know it's you, Beach! :D

I dont do more than 1 or 2 int'l calls a months so thats not it. Ive calculated that around 400 of my calls were to movistar phones and 250 to vodafone and like 20 to amena. So im going to change to movistar as internetwork calls are cheaper. I really cant be bothered with pay as you go though. Ill just have to start being a bit more intelligent with my calls I guess!

I don't know about Movistar tariffs but with Vodafone if, for example, you paid a monthly quota of €60 you get €60 worth of calls to ANY telephone charged at €0,13 per minute.

For €25 per month you pay €0,15 per minute and for €40 per month you pay €0,14 per minute

This is not the first time this allegation has been made against Amena but it's usually to do with PAYG. If you have a contracted mobile can't you check the calls you make against your bill?

If you change to Vodafone you can keep the same number and get free connection and a new mobile as well.

8 pages ???!!!! I reckon you're using it a heck of a lot. Maybe you did actually use 400 euros worth. My bill is rarely more than 2 pages - and a lot of it is for text messages.

Beachcomber...How have you got free calls from Telefonica?

Also, is anyone else using Telefonica's "free fifteen minutes after 8pm (international calls) deal". Is it worth the monthly fee? Does ANYONE manage to stick to their 15 minutes?

Kelly, we have free metropolitan, provincial and interprovincial calls from Telefónica too, but that was what the offered when we had a new connection. Didn't bother with the 15 minutes a day, as there is no roll over of calls it still worked out better value to use the international phone cards .

Poshtotti, can you confirm that you were offered this with your ADSL contract. I don't think it applies when just contracting for a landline telephone.
