Banks and divorce

Postby Jool » Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:09 am

If you are a couple who co-own a house in Andalucia with a mortgage and the relationship breaks down and you cannot continue to live together are the banks sympathetic to you in terms of making any changes to the mortgage (like interest only) while things are resolved or the property sold?

Yes - I went to the bank on behalf of the individual and the bank´s response was
we can add the property to our distressed sale portfolio and website and offer 100% mortgage finance but only for the value of the mortgage and the costs associated, nothing more"
No other help was offered, no interest only deals, no stop on extra charges for late payments, big fat ZERO help unless it was in the bank´s interest alone, this on a property with only approx 50% mortgage on current market values.......

Money grabbing vultures who would pick the bones of their own mother is my opinion

Andalucia is supposed to be the area where community and family counts, yet that clearly does not include banks...............

Two rules.

No money in banks.

Don't get divorced.
