Best gas water heater ?

Postby Jool » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:45 pm

Can anyone recommend a good quality mid-level budget type gas hot water heater please? It is to go outside but will only be used for domestic hot water. Make and model? Supplier? Is it worth getting one from Leroy Merlin or do they only have discontinued or older models?

Thank you in advance

We have a Junkers water heater, automatic ignition, no batteries or pilot light. Only problem we had was a spider died on a bit inside! Cleaned spider off, then ok
Bought at local plumbing place. Had the boiler for 5 years now. Our friend has same one, he is pleased with his too.

Junkers - had a very basic model for 8 years, it was quick and efficient. It needed a repair a month or so ago so decided to replace it, thinking it must be on it's last legs - mistake! The new Necker one does not get as hot as quickly, if at all, and consumes twice the amount of butano.

i replaced ours with an "aquatronic" one - no batteries or pilot light. it uses less gas, so in all its saved us a bit of cash :)

When we moved to this house there was a boiler with a pilot light, it was surprising how much longer the gas lasted once we got a new boiler. Our neighbour took the old boiler, he soon changed it to a new one too.
