Yet another holiday!

Postby Footprint » Thu Nov 01, 2012 10:42 am

Just been into the village and everywhere closed - what is this one for?
You can spend, minutes, hours, days, weeks or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened - or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f**k on.

Yes it is a national holiday.
All Saints, or Souls, Day.
The Spanish honour their dead relatives. Just go to your local cemetery and see all the flowers being laid on the graves.
Cheers

It's a National Holiday, All Saints Day. Traditionally people spend the night with their departed at the Cemetry. Good business for florists too!!!

Today is All Saints and tomorrow is All Souls (aka Dia de los Difunctos, the Day of the Dead.)

Schools will be shut today and tomorrow and I understand that people working in the public sector have both days off but shops will be open again tomorrow.

If you raise a glass today the toast is "absent friends".

Thank you. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find the village shops closed tomorrow - they generally are here - but hopefully Bricor/Leroy Merlin will be open.

Cheers

I doubt if any shops will be shut tomorrow, it's not a holiday.
The large shopping centres are open today as is Leroy Merlin etc.

To be quite honest, I like these days off work. I can't wait for the next one on December 6th. The one on the 8th will be lost because it's on Saturday.
