Using IE...........
Check Certificates are in Personal.....
.....Tools ...Internet Options....Content...Certificates...Personal

Now for the scary bit..........

Internet Options...Security...Internet..........Custom Level...

In the Security Settings - Internet Zone trawl down and Enable all the ActiveX some will turn Red with (not secure)

Click ok when done......you will now get messages about putting computer at risk..YES to all these.

Close Browser........open Browser and ignore Security settings..go to the site and Mod your data as a test

Just click yes to any messages that come up.............

Thought that Master Password was a red herring as I had set mine up as per the FAQ.

After you've signed and sent your application you get a message like . .

Imprima esta pagina, o en su defecto apunte este codigo y guardelo en lugar seguro, pues lo necesitar· para descargar su nuevo certificado.

Para descargar el certificado debe usar el mismo ordenador, el mismo navegador y el mismo usuario con el que realizo la Solicitud.
Si usted ha extraviado su codigo de solicitud, por favor pongase en contacto con nuestro servicio de Soporte.

Introduzca en la casilla correspondiente el NIF o NIE del titular del certificado, a˙n en el caso de que Ud. sea el representante del titular. En caso de ser un certificado de persona jurÌdica introduzca el NIF (antes denominado CIF) de la entidad. El NIF o NIE deber· tener una longitud de 9 caracteres. Rellene con ceros a la izquierda si es necesario.


If you try to do this too quickly after applying you'll get a meesage like . . .

El usuario de NIF X1234567S no tiene ninguna peticion en estado de descarga correspondiente a la solicitud con el codigo 123456789.
Para obtener el certificado debe acreditarse en una oficina de registro y esperar 24 h para que se procese su solicitud

Don't consider this as a failure - it just takes time before the DS is availabe for download. After about half an hour or so it worked for me.

Here's an alternative solution for anyone getting this error:

In Firefox, go to Options/Advanced/View Certificates

Open the Authorities tab, and scroll down to find FNMT Clase 2 CA

Click on it to select it, and click the Edit Trust button

Check all the boxes, and click OK

Try again with the FNMT page which gave the error. If you have set a master password in Firefox then type it, otherwise leave it blank. It should now work.
