Yes there are 3 readings but they use a ratio as a result.

DA,
old chap, your cholesterol level is fine,it's a lot lower than many women record...their cholesterol level is normally higher.
My level is marginally lower than yours and the quack was amazed it was so low.
I've had porridge for breakfast for the last 20 years and that lowers the level.
Flahavans porridge from Tesco or Sainsburys is best
On your blood pressure,...take yourself by surprise so the level doesn't rise.
white coat syndrome will hack the level up...my ma in law suffers from this....so just take it easy.
Post your results here and as an "internet doctor" I'll review your results!

2 excellent things to keep your blood pressure down. Listening to music and steady walking.

Thanks to OP for posting this. I went along to the local doctor and mentioned my slightly enlarged prostate.
He asked what I took for this and I said "saw palmetto". He said he would give me "real" medicine and prescribed "Permixon." The ingredients said "Serenoa repens". I googled it and up came the following:-

How did you know you had "Slightly enlarged prostate" was it from a blood test?
Re: Gentlemen, please get checked
I've had it for the last 20 years. There is another test of course.

Re: Gentlemen, please get checked
Not a thread that I want to resurrect but needs must...
Does anybody know where in Spain HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment for prostate cancer is available. I've searched and searched but so far come up pretty much blank. In the UK now HIFU has been proven almost as successful treatment long term as prostatectomy, but with virtually none of the side effects. Now available on the NHS in the UK and dozens of private clinics. But here in Spain nada.
Should add that I am in the Malaga region, and cannot believe that this treatment isn't available in Marbella or thereabouts. Obviously prefer something reasonable local but will travel if I have to, just don't really want to travel to the UK for it.

As a " victim" of Prostate Cancer, I can speak with some degree of authority on the subject!
16 months ago I had major surgery to remove my prostate, surrounding nerves and lymph glands. It was not a pleasant experience and the last months have been a gradual return to relative normality. I am just short of 68 years old.
When I was 57, I went to my GP in the UK and asked for a PSA test. He refused, stating all the reasons in the above posts - false readings leading to invasive investigations etc etc.
9 years later, after some discomfort, I saw another GP who did a PSA test which showed a PSA of 21!
Luckily, the resulting scans and biopsy showed cancer but confined to the prostate itself, hence the removal and hopefully, cure. My last three PSA tests have been zero.
The point to remember is that whilst a single test may or may not indicate a problem, an annual test will show if a problem is developing before a major problem rears its head.
My advice is that if you are over 55, insist or pay for an annual PSA test and react if you find a significant change from your normal reading.

Which is precisely why I want to go the HIFU route when it becomes necessary.Stevemul wrote:As a " victim" of Prostate Cancer, I can speak with some degree of authority on the subject!

Did you investigate alternative treatments or just go straight with the prostatectomy?
Why need to remove all of that if the tumor was contained in the prostrate?

Re: Gentlemen, please get checked
My surgery and treatment was in Dublin, Ireland.
I was offered a choice of Radiation treatment or Prostatectomy. Radiation would have involved weekly sessions for a number of weeks, travelling to Dublin. Also, after Radiation, surgery is not possible if there are further problems whereas after surgery, follow up Radiation is possible. The removal of Lymph and nerves was a precaution.
I know nothing about HIFU and was not offered this treatment. Your post suggests that there is no great urgency whereas my Surgeon wanted to operate asap as my PSA had risen to 29 during the diagnosis period.
