Any recommendation for a reasonably priced, I'm a cheapskate and it's me who is paying , in Barcelona?
Hoping to go there for my 70th birthday next February.

Re: Hotel in Barcelona
Barcelona is a very expensive city for accommodation, Gerry. We had an apartment when we stayed, close to the Sagrada Familia - in fact we could see it from the terrace of the apartment.
This place looks rather nice and is in a good area of the city (personally I would not want to stay too close to Las Ramblas - too busy - or in the Bario Gotic - very dark and dingy with a lot of graffiti and smells like an outdoor public toilet.

The metro is a great way to get around the city and this place has a metro station virtually on the doorstep.
Or for a more reasonably priced option (and has tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms which is quite a rarity in Spanish cities),

Hi F@L
Been to Barcelona a few years ago. Stayed in a hotel at top end of Las Ramblas, our balcony overlooked Las Ramblas. Interesting street with some good buskers.
Want to go and see Sagrada Familia again now it's nearly finished.
Your second hotel suggestion looks promising.
Cheers

Tryp Barcelona Apolo Hotel was excellent for us. Handily placed and got a really good rate through booking.com.
Re: Hotel in Barcelona
Dont know about hotel but Ryanair fly direct to Barca from Malaga. You used to have to go via Madrid in the old days. 1 hour flight.

Yes, I'm aware of that and Vueling also does.costakid wrote:Dont know about hotel but Ryanair fly direct to Barca from Malaga. You used to have to go via Madrid in the old days. 1 hour flight.
Both similar prices.

Travelodge have two hotels in Barcelona. Looking at February there's one for 31 euros and a more central one 46 euros per night
