jerez

Postby carrowcrin » Wed Aug 28, 2013 9:48 am

I have booked what i call a holiday within a holiday which i try to do about twice e a year, meaning i take three or four nights away in the middle of my Spanish trip and go somewhere else for a few nights.
This time it is the coast between Cadiz/Tarifa staying mostly Cornil.
My question is are the tourist places closed in Jerez on Sunday as the last night i will be staying there and it is Sunday night, i can easily cancel this one night and return another time but i do not want to waste the day if everywhere closed.
My trip is in November and i am interested in any information with regard to this region, more to do with normal life fishing farming etc than the tourist thing.

many thanks

Hi There

I really don't know if all the Tourist Places are closed on a Sunday.

These Websites might help you with your enquiries.

http://www.turismojerez.com/index.php?&L=1

is the local city tourism web.

Jerez was developed because of the Sherry trade. There are vineyards dotted around the countryside surrounding Jerez.

Thanks for replies, my original plan was to do Cornil first and Jerez at weekend but i think i may be better do it the other way as i only had a quick look but noticed that Sunday not recommended on one of the notes.

I've been in Jerez on a few sundays, mostly after MotoGP races. Even then Jerez was dddddead! Nothing happening anywhere. Even on week nights its difficult to find restaurants, except in one area of the wide pedestrianised street. (sorry, can't remember its name!)

Unless your flying or going to the airport ... Cadiz is the better place to visit

Martin, did Cadiz before and loved it, for me Cadiz easy as can be done anytime with public transport, this time i will have car hire and i want to do the rural thing around Cornil and thought i would explore tourist Jerez since in the general area, any advise in relation to anything greatly appreciated.
Colin, from what you say Jerez is out for Sunday.
By the way how is Cork, i did quite a bit of work with the big company in calle Leitrim in the past.

Cork is good in the sunshine! I like Cork, small enough to get through or around quickly and big enough that you don't keep meeting your next door neighbour!

Would that have been the dutchman on Calle Leitrim?
