Could someone under Velez who gets their IBI by post please update this when they receive it? Gerry/Chrissie, your instructions were fine but I only managed to see an outstanding one from 2012 which is when we raised our issue. We were told not to pay that one... I think. The sooner we know whether it has all been sorted the better.

Just been getting my bill for 2014, and had a rummage around while I was on the Recaudacion site, as I have, stored on my pc, a list of receipts for payments made thro my bank, which came from there. I haven't tried this one https://portalweb.prpmalaga.es/opencms/ ... liado.html but it might be worth a look...

Gruff -just to let you know, my IBI bill was delivered today.

My bill is for exactly the same amount as last year (with a €241.72 reduction because of the ayuda deIBI from the Ayuntamiento). However, at the bottom of the bill it says I will receive the subvencion being paid this year by the Diputacion de Malaga and therefore the amount to be debited from my account will be reduced by a further €32.90. Has anybody else within Malaga province noticed this on their bill?

From the bill I can also see that, in accordance with what they announced earlier in the year, the valor catastral has been reduced by 27%. That should help people if they come to sell their house as a prospective purchaser will be less likely to be faced with a demand for additional transfer tax, and should also reduce plus valia and inheritance tax bills, I should think.

Very good day all round as I received my refund of €22.90 from Endesa in the same post!

Mine says:-

Subvencion Provincial IBI2014 (BOP Malaga 12/12/2013) -Importe 32.90 euros. Esta cantidad se reducira del importe del recibo en el momento del cargo en su cuenta corriente.

This means that the bill will be reduced by the amount of the subvencion at the time it's debited to your bank account.

Keep an eye on your bank account to see what happens! My bill doesn't show the date when the direct debits are due to be taken.

Ah but Ah but I am already paid up as I pay monthly. I guess I'll just have to watch the account for the next couple of months.

Oh well, it transpires that the Ayuntamiento de Velez-Malaga has not been as generous as it first appeared (if something looks too good to be true ...). Yes, they have reduced the catastral values by 27%, but at the same time they've increased the municipal co-efficient from 1.00 to 1.27. So there won't be any benefit as regards transfer tax and inheritance tax (although they are, at present, only charging 50% of the plus valia due on any property sale).

This means their own tax take isn't affected, whilst bringing thousands of properties within the scope of the IBI subvencion from the Diputacion de Malaga (which only applies to properties with a catastral value below €100,000). Sneaky!

Some other municipalities in the area have increased their municipal co-efficients too:-

Alcaucin from 3.04 to 3.41
Vinuela from 1.05 to 1.57
Competa from 1.38 to 1.64
Canillas de Aceituno from 1.82 to 1.91

A couple have reduced their co-efficients:-
Nerja from 1.80 to 1.77
Torrox from 2.42 to 1.61

(Figures taken from a lawyer's article in one of the local free mags which came out yesterday).

I can't claim to understand all the bits involved in the IBI. I just know that by Benamargosa bill was in the letterbox today and the IBI is exactly the same as the last couple of years. However, also got the bill for our house in the campo which comes under Comares. At first glance it too seems the same as the ladt couple of years. But, at the bottom it says that due to the subvenvion provincial IBI 2014, when they take the full amount by direct debit they will also give a refund of 80 euros. Seems a complicated way of doing things but any refund is welcome.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Update
I usually get my bill in July and pay, by standing order, on the 8th or thereabouts of August.
My bill arrived today which shows €37.84, but with a Subvencion Provicional IBI 2014 (BOP Malaga) discount of €15.14.
€22.70 was taken from my bank account today.
Cheers

Thanks, Gerry - seeing your post reminded me to check my account, and my IBI has gone out today too. The extra Subvencion Provincial brought it down to €290.76, but considering the total bill should have been €570 I'm not complaining, quite the opposite.

We are all used to the low IBI bills compared to Council Tax but your bill is silly, which half of the shed do you live ?

I wonder how many other people have IBIs as low as Gerry.
