Tool Hire in Velez Malaga Comares area

Postby BusterG » Fri Nov 21, 2014 9:43 am

hello.
I can find lots of chain saws for sale but none for hire.

I need to trim a number of overgrown olive trees before they fall down.
Can anyone direct me to a toolhire shop in the area?

Thanks
Buster

Hi BusterG,
Have you not got a local pruner , would cost same as hiring a chain saw and you wouldn't have the hassle of operating it...........don't like chainsaws..... :(

Just had 5 large trees pruned and our local guy charged 10euro..... he normally does our whole area (olives) every two years for 60 euro.

Enrique, you speak sense, especially as my neighbour (sorta) is a lenador.

My only concern about asking him is (a) i think he would over do it and not leave enough shade for summer guests and me (b) I want the wood for various projects and the woodburner (c) I like power tools.

I have a good relationship with him as his kids used to come over and use our pool when they were younger. We see them less now as they are older. I have bought wood off him in the past too.

El Cano, at the side of the motorway at Rincon has a huge tool hire shop. It's on the right as you approach

For very good reasons, you are supposed to be qualified in the UK to use a chain saw.
You should wear special 'chain saw' trousers, helmet with eye protection, proper boots, and should be trained.
I lost a good friend years ago in England who was up in a tree cutting away, slipped, and saw his leg sawn off beneath him. He died quickly and had to have his body recovered by the Fire Brigade.
I have sawn my knee with a little electric chainsaw, fortunately only needing a few stitches at the local health centre, and count myself lucky.

Cheers Jim and Peter
My lenador neighbour did the cutting for me and is even going to thresh the branches I dont want with his professional chipper.
All in for 50eur.
And I didnt have to hire anything and I get a nice pile or 2 of chippings for the veg garden.

You do not have to be qualified to use a chainsaw in the UK. You do have to be to use a chainsaw commercially. I have used a chainsaw for decades with never a scratch. I do however wear a full ballistic suit, gloves, helmet (with face grill) and boots; much to the amusement of my Spanish neighbours.
