Richard I pre-load a card then use it as any other type of debit card. Safer than wads of notes.

Bank transfer to bank in Spain.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Richard, make a pit stop in La Cala on your way to Estepona. There is an exchange bureau just off the main roundabout. Gives about 5 cents more per pound than eg. The Post Office. Every little helps

I can see this sterling hike regenerating expat areas. :) Average income will have gone up by about 300€ pm. which means 30 menus del dia or 5 meals in a proper restaurant.

A good whipping, possibly!

I will struggle to stay ahead. Do you think we should set up a super-amigos lounge for those of us who have hit the magic 10k?

Anyway, thanks for all your contributions!

Enjoy the feeling of wealth as it might be short lived.
The problem is that the Euro currency is collapsing quite quickly.
The Greeks seem to have little intention of complying with any agreement, so the only option will be another crisis prior to a Euro exit, (currency and/or the Union).
This will cause even more instability in the market and it actually benefits no-one in the long term.
In Spain, all imported items will rise, inflation will rise.

The Germans are even considering if leaving the Eurozone would benefit them!
If the currency collapses completely, the Peseta or New Peseta may have to replace the Euro.
What will happen then is anyone's guess.

New peseta?

Short term pain ,long term gain. Devaluation. Exports cheaper.Imports dearer.

I've recently been taking a look at this site for an idea as to what's happening €/£ wise:

http://www.eurorateforecast.com/

it does pretty much what it says on the tin regarding upcoming issues which will impact on the rate. I'm not an investor or trader but, like anyone I imagine, my pennies / cents need an eye kept on them.

Of course they are encouraging you to buy Euros - that's what they are there for.

If no one changes any money they make no commission!

It's just broken through 1.4

The Euro is heading for parity with the dollar!

We were trying to recall the rate when we bought originally yesterday, it's getting awfully close to it, 9 years ago. Must try the market again. If the apartment doesn't sell now it never will.

As you would be getting 40% less in GBP than you would have when the € and £ were at parity, maybe sellers should have dropped their prices years ago, and had the money in the bank for all this time...

I live in Spain, I don't even consider £ except for looking at things from a possible purchaser's point of view.
We removed it from the market a couple of years ago as there were just no viewers from the agents we were using, I was just musing that perhaps it was time to try it again. Our bottom line, in Euros, will remain the same.
