are dogs allowed in bars and restaurants over there
We are coming May next year and wonder what the policy is on dogs accompanying their owners into these type of places.

Generally dogs are not permitted inside. Outside depends on the owners.

Thankfully have never seen a dog in a restaurant and if I did I would never return to it...
Why would dogs be allowed in places where people eat? I would be surprised if its allowed anywhere...

Guide dogs only thankfully. I would never eat in a restaurant with a dog in it.

The only restaurants I know of that allow dogs in them are in Cambodia... usually served with a piquant sauce and steamed rice

Re: are dogs allowed in bars and restaurants over there
I am not aware of any law that bans dogs in restaurants. I have recently been in a restaurant where one of the diners had a dog with them. It was actually a large Husky. We were there for two hours before they left and up to then there had been absolutely no sight or sound of it.
In another restaurant a diner had a tiny dog with her - it could easily have sat in her handbag.
I assume it is down to the restaurant owner as to whether he allows it.

Most places in Holland allow dogs.

A husky type dog, stands up and has a good shake like they do. Nice lot of airbourn hair floating around the restaurant and landing in your soup. NO THANK YOU.

I know of a couple of places here where the bar/restaurant owners have dogs of their own and they freely roam around the premises (inside and out). You see plenty of people sitting in restaurants' outside seating areas with their dogs in and around Torrox pueblo and Costa.
Re: are dogs allowed in bars and restaurants over there
ajtg has it right - dogs are not allowed inside bars and restaurants (owner/manager may make exceptions - eg for guide dogs or pooches in handbags) but SHOULD be allowed outside - this second bit seems also at the discretion of the owner/manager as they have been known to refuse.
Dogs are freely accepted inside and outside bars and restaurants in France where we spent many years, and usually the server brings a well-used dog bowl out with water for the dog as they take your order!

Thanks for the responses
Re: are dogs allowed in bars and restaurants over there
Our local hostelry provides a dog biscuit. We never take our dog. I believe they should be like kids, at home although dogs don't really bother me. A large group of us were in the New Forest a few weekends ago, we had to take our dogs and a friend took her three handbag dogs. They were able to run around the hotel and in the bar but not allowed in the restaurant. They offered us a private room but it was one of those rare warm evenings in the UK. So we were able to eat in a very pretty courtyard.
