Postby morlandg » Tue Mar 15, 2016 9:45 am

Can someone remind me when the simulator for 2015 will become available online and give me the link to it?

It was announced towards the end of last year that there isn't going to be one on the Agencia Tributaria website this year (unless they change their minds, but I've seen no announcement to that effect so far). It's a shame, I found it very useful.

Why do you need a simulator when you can use the actual padre programme to work out your tax?

The padre program for 2015 isn't available yet.
When it is it will be on http://www.agenciatributaria.es/AEAT.in ... anos.shtml
Click on "2015 income" when it is there.
At the moment only 2014 income is available.
Cheers

There is not going to be a PADRE programme this year, it will be replaced by a facility called Renta Web on the Agencia Tributaria website (merging the old borrador and PADRE systems), which will not require people to download anything to their PCs. This article does not say when it will become available, but states that the campana de la renta starts on 4 April, so maybe that is the date in question?

A more in depth article about the new system from El Pais (not available in their English version, sorry).

http://economia.elpais.com/economia/201 ... 36741.html

This clarifies that the PADRE programme will still be used in some circumstances, for people whose tax affairs are more complicated and by professionals such as accountants and gestors, who won't have access to the new system.

I think the new system will be more relevant to employees who currently receive an estimate of any tax due - a Borrador - (most of it has already been paid through PAYE).

I think most people who currently use the PADRE program will continue to do so.

Quoted from an earlier post of mine:-
"The padre program for 2015 isn't available yet.
When it is it will be on http://www.agenciatributaria.es/AEAT.in ... anos.shtml"

Use this link http://www.agenciatributaria.es/AEAT.in ... enta.shtml
At the moment when you hover over the Download button you will get a message "Available from 6 April 2016"

Renta 2015 is now available for download.
The program allows you to import the Renta 2014 declaration into it.
Saves me retyping my address and the other personal details that do not change.

To be on the safe side, do it by about 20th June. That gives you a few days grace in case you have a problem.

Sid, when do you expect to publish the updated version of your excellent guide to tax for residents in the FAQs?

I'm doing it right at the moment.

The exchange rate for last year is 1.3777 €/£

As Gerry previously posted, you can download the PADRE program at http://www.agenciatributaria.es/AEAT.in ... enta.shtml

Appointments at the tax office can be made on 901 223344 from May 4th.

Thanks Sid for updating the FAQ on income tax for residents viewtopic.php?f=42&t=27576
Still the best summary around
Nevertheless, a friend of mine who has heard the 22k figure bandied about, is convinced that with his state pension, a small private pension and some savings interest in total amounting to less than 22k, he is not liable to pay any tax and that he doesn't even need to make a declaration! I'm still having trouble convincing him otherwise, but as I'm no expert on these matters, it is a bit of a case of the blind leading the blind though.
Could you just clarify a couple of points for me?
The "general allowance" - who gets this, what type of income is it applied to? Is this the same as "wage earners allowance", or is that the "low income allowance"?
Joint or separate declarations: Except perhaps where one partner's income is less than €3,400 I can't quite see how it could be advantageous to make a joint declaration. Apart from saving on gestor's fees, isn't it better to each have €5,550 allowance, than to have 1x5550 plus 3400? I think I must be missing something.
Am I right in assuming that the Andalucia tax rates override the State rates? Why are there different scales?

There has always been a lot of confusion about the 22k allowance. This only applies to income where the tax has been deducted at source, just like the PAYE system in the UK. If you are not employed on a normal contract of employment the 22k figure is totally irrelevant.

There are now two general allowances which replace the previous one allowance.

Previously, you got an allowance of between 2450 and 4000 depending on your income. If it was below about 11k you got the whole allowance and above that it reduced on a sliding scale to the lower figure. Now, that allowance is reduced to zero when you get to the higher income figure. To compensate for this, to some extent, there is now another fixed allowance of 2000 which is not income dependant.

The fact that the old allowance can now reduce to zero and is not completely offset by the extra 2000 will cause problems for some, especially those with incomes in those bands.

The joint declaration is of no use unless the wife has almost no income.

The regional rates override the state rates. There are different scales and rates because the Junta chooses to take that option.

Still not clear what "income" the general allowance is applied to. In previous years when my only income was savings interest (in the good old days when we got 6.5%, that took me over the basic personal allowance) I never got the "general" allowance on top of the personal allowance. Does it not apply to investment income? Pensions?
