The first thing you can try is booting into the recovery environment, if possible, and then performing a startup repair. To access the recovery environment, turn your computer on and off three times. While booting, make sure you turn off the computer when you see the Windows logo. After the third time, Windows 10 will boot into diagnostics mode. Click Advanced options when the recovery screen appears.

Hi,
Not a problem........if you have downloaded the Windows 10 .iso..........
Once you have all your stuff off on to external disk do a Clean Install......this will setup a 450MB Windows recovery Partition and install a new copy of Win 10 on the C:\ drive
Do a Custom install, skip the Licence bit as you will already be on the MS License DB...check Activation once install finished.
You may have to get some specific HP drivers after you have installed Win 10.
Let me know how you get on....I'm out on MTB for the morning so will check later...........

Hi,
Once you have the .iso file use Rufus to build it on to the USB then boot this USB on your sick system.
I trust you have the right .iso version i.e. x86(32bit)or x64(64bit) depending on your sick system config.

Re: Laptop not starting up - URGENT HELP NEEDED
hi Im using the USB done the full reinstall and wiped the computer it literally has taken 18 hours as i had to learn command prompt language to copy files and watched a lot of youtube videos, Im still at it trying to reinstall 3 years of programs and internet shortcut.
Im yet to restart this computer but hopefully it should be ok as I have not reset the boot up order yet from USB at the first. Ive never had any problems with operating systems before except the week they cut of xp support killed my previous computer. Im thinking windows 10 is not as bullet proof as they made out. or at least the free up grade version.

Hi,
Good to hear you're making progress.
For when you get sorted................this will bring up a Menu and you can either load Normal Windows or have the option to go into Safe mode.......I use this on my systems.

There are Posts on the Web where you can reinstate F8 to get to Safe Mode.
Things to do when you first Boot up.
Check Activation.
Install a Antivirus Program............I use Avast Free
Backup system using Macrium Reflect free to an external drive.
Go through all the "settings" and Turn them off...........I'd have done that on the install Stage
Install your favourite programs
Backup the now fully loaded system.

In addition to creating a backup don't forget to create a Rescue Media disc/ USB device.
No point backing up your system if the Recovery software is on your unbootable device.
With a rescue Media disc/ USB device you boot from that to recover your unbootable system.
Also set up you Bios to boot from disc/ USB device, if present, before it attempts to boot from your Hard Drive.
Cheers
Gerry
