It wasn't until I got to the price of the wine, that I realised you were not talking about Spain! :D I believe there has been talk here of break ins, murder, and someone moaning about the price of those bl--dy bombonas going up again. Mind you those bombonas are handy, especialy when you have the big ones for central heating! ;-) Not sure who pays £15 for a bottle of wine though, I know I don't! It's definitely dearer, but comparing the price here with someone the other day of Torres San Valentín, she was paying equivalent of £2.80 there, I get it here for £4. Get nearly four bottles for £15! The supermarkets here do some excellent wines, reservas, gran reservas, for £5 or £6 a bottle. We had a £10 bottle last week reduced to a fiver. I never consider it worth it bringing wine back from Spain nowadays.
Might even have to come up your way next week, friends of ours live near Almuñecar, but they have a place at Canillas de Albaída they use at weekends.
Regards, Frank

Hi Marina

Thank you for your good wishes.

The restaurant is called El Salmon, address Avda. Andalucia 56, Torre del Mar (tel: 952 965424 or 629 264032). It's on the opposite side of the road to the Commissiaria de Policia, a bit further on coming from your direction. They were practically full on Saturday night so might be a good idea to reserve in advance, and I think they are closed on Wednesdays. They also do a menu del dia from 1.30 pm onwards on weekdays, for 7.95E.

If anyone in your family is vegetarian, they do have a vegetarian option on the menu but are happy to prepare something to order if you ring the day before. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to visit, judging from the appreciative noises coming from all the tables around us most people seem to!

I've been to El Salmon a few times and I quite agree with you.
It's a pity it doesn't have a nicer area for dining outside in Summer, the main road just doesn't appeal, but it's lovely inside.

weather

Postby Mariposa » Sat Mar 18, 2006 9:37 pm

Back to a part of the original topic.
Well it has been completely soaking wet today, torrential rain here on the Costa Tropical, but it is not as cold now as it was in the UK last week. But you can't see the mountains which is sad. I can't understand how it can change so quickly from T shirt weather....
