The op is only talking about the proof required for her bank to confirm she has got a UK pension.
Nothing whatever to do with Spanish pension.
She has got her UK pension, the bank does not trust (understand) the paperwork she has got showing this.
Gerrynag, YES. That is absolutely what I am on about.

jhonie99 wrote:U should be dealing with INSS, not DWP. You're resident in Spain and presumeably if you followed correct procedure u claimed your UK pension via INSS.
I have been resident in Spain for the last 24 years and last April reached the pension age of 65.
I had paid 30 years contributions in the UK and 15 years from working in Spain.

I applied to the DWP 4 months prior to this and they duly processed the application prior to my birthday, awarding a full UK pension.

I also approached the INSS at the same time inquiring about my application for a Spanish pension.
I was told that I couldnt apply for this until my birthday, and so applied on that day.
It took about 5 months to process, but when awarded it was backdated to my birthday, nice lump sum.

So it seems that you can still apply for a UK pension via the DWP.

It still comes down to whether the Plan is reliant on Lavanda becoming 65, as she seems to understand, OR reliant on receipt of her pension - the spanish only get to pensionable age at 65, hence the slight clash in the wording. If it is clearly stated on the plan that it is at age 65, full stop - then she does not need to prove receipt of her pension. If it is stated to be on receipt of a pension, then her letter from DWP, plus her S1, even if issued BEFORE age 65 should be sufficient.

I have been getting my UK pension since March 2018 and I was 65 in September 2018. A month later I 'claimed' my pension money from the Banco Santander. It's now February 2019.

Ahah - so - it looks like this is something that is often requested and is obtainable from the webpage of the Social Security ... which is fine if you have a spanish pension
https://consultar-imprimir.es/certificado-de-pensiones
you can even get it as a text message these days !!! see newspaper report
https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/322815 ... s-diarios/
BUT if you only have a UK pension, then they will have to accept the documents that you do have from the UK ... OR
Perhaps a phone call to DWP in Newcastle might come up with something better?

I've called the DWP but they have no idea what I need. I shall see the bank manager on Tuesday and 'have a chat'. Ha! Ha!

Does your UK pension get paid into your Spanish bank account? If so that should be sufficient proof.

Yes. It does. You would think that sufficient proof, wouldn't you.

Birth certificate? That doesn’t prove that you are a pensioner unless you have a detailed knowledge of at what age UK pensions are paid, which I very much doubt that the bank has. Let’s face it, many people in the UK don’t understand that either!

Correct. I will wait until i get to the bank on Tuesday and try to explain the system in the UK — date of birth plus national insurance number plus years of work and contributions plus date of retirement equals pension.

gerryh wrote:Neither my wife nor myself involved INSS when we became eligible for our UK pensions.
DWP sent us letters saying that our pensions would be paid from such and such date and into what account do we want them paid.
This was about 10 years ago, perhaps the system has changed an INSS deals with UK pensions???
Cheers
Gerry

But have you ever worked in Spain or claiming Spanish pension ??

OK, that's the reason why INSS were not involved.

It becomes slightly different if you have been working in Spain prior to your retirement, then you claim both your Spanish and U K pensions via the Spanish system !!

So Lavanda, what happened when you went to the bank on that Tuesday some time ago ... and why has nothing happened yet and we are well into March now - did you clarify if they want you to be 65, or whether they are stuck with wanting a spanish document to be provided for your UK pension?

Nightmare!!!
