Renta 2019

Postby peteroldracer » Mon Apr 06, 2020 5:35 pm

My mouth is dry, I have a nervous cough and could break out in a sweat any moment..not Covid19 but the opening of the tax hunting season for 2019,
Is there any chance that the experts can take pity on those of us who struggle with this?
I did last year's (2018) return on line using our Digital Certificates, with some difficulty but now the next year approaches need some help on the process. Can I call up the 2018 returns and simply change the figures and submit? What do I actually click on and enter? If anyone can tell me the process without using a single technical term I would be very grateful - and cannot believe that I am the only one!

You don’t actually need a digital certificate. You can apply for a reference number online using your bank details and some information from your previous declaration.

When you sign in all the personal info, property details etc will be already filled in. All you need to do is enter the 2019 figures in the same boxes using your previous declaration. Last year it took me less than 10 minutes to do our two returns. To save you looking it up, the exchange rate you should use is 1.139.

thanks sid. As I do have DCs this should be the easiest way in? What do I actually click on to start the process?
A step-by=step gude would be wonderful!

Just go to the AEAT site and look for Rentaweb and take it from there. I did write a very long guide once but it keeps changing and I can’t keep up with the changes. That said it is now very easy to follow so long as you have last years declaration in front of you.

Many Thanks

Having just done our returns I can tell you that the rate is there - 1.139 to save you looking. I reckon the allowances must have gone up, as we have both got a bill of nothing!

As peter said, the rate is in the FAQs. I am not aware of any other significant changes.

“ That said it is now very easy to follow”
Oh no it isn’t! :-) just like last year it does not follow any logical course. It says you must identify yourself by one of several methods but no link that you can click on to select e.g. digital certificate, and certainly no “start here” button.
I managed, by randomly clicking and going back but it leaves me with no certainty that the return has been done correctly other than that there are similarr amounts in the same boxes as last time! Typical of computerised forms in that the creator has not dragged in a few random individuals from the street, sat them at the keyboard and said “ right, here are some figures, submit a return using them” and watched them silently to see if they had any problems.

If you can’t do it yourself, make an appointment online at the tax office and they will do it for you.

Is that service going to be available this year, because of the corona virus situation? At the moment our local Hacienda office is closed to the public.

Could i just ask, both myself and wife are going to have a go this year at filing our tax online both our incomes are from outside of Spain my income is 4000 e per year and my wife's income is 9000e a year generated from property rental and bank savings.

would there be any advantage to filing a joint return or should we stick to separate returns as i we are a little confused as we understand our tax allowance is 5500e each so would the joint return lower our allowance or would we get 5500 each plus the 3000k joint declaration allowance .

thank you in advance .

Welcome to the forum.
If you fill in the tax return in joint names then, at the end of the process, it will till you whether it is advantageous to submit a joint return or separate returns.

At those figures you should be looking at a tax bill of zero, so don’t get anxious.

I agree with Peter, there will not be any tax to pay, in fact on those incomes you do not even have to make a declaration.

If you want to learn more about allowances, etc., look at the FAQ here

There is a tax simulator on the AEAT site which you can use without any special access.
