Anyone else notice it about 11pm last night? I'd seen that in the past couple of weeks there'd been ones elsewhere in Spain and wondered if we'd get anything here as it seems that the plates are shifting. Just a small jolt but like thump in the back as I sat on the sofa and everything in the cabinet rattled, preceded by a loud rumbling. We've had more dramatic ones in Greece and LA which lasted about 5 seconds so I wouldn't like to experience something that violent in my own home.

Yes, we felt it at 10.50 pm. It was as though somebody had bumped into my sofa quite hard and it jolted, only for a second though, and we didn't notice any rumbling or things rattling on surfaces. Apparently there were two further tremors later on, although we didn't notice either of them.

Yes that's how it felt for me Free at Last. I didn't notice any more, although I lay awake for quite a while when I went to bed half expecting the 'Big One' to happen ...... although this is not San Francisco, but I'm ever the optimist .... not!!

This is exactly where a really serious 6.7 quake happened in 1884 killing 1200 people.

Yeah we felt it before 11 floor felt like it was vibrating and windows and shutters were doing the same. Quite a rumble for a few seconds. Got up and looked outside as we wondered what it was at first. A big gust of wind or something rumbling past.
Re: Earthquake last night
Interesting article Sid. That's when the king came to Torrox and Nerja and famously stood on the Balcon De Europa which now has his statue on it. The damage was more widespread than I realised.

Re: Earthquake last night
No seismic activity mentioned on the official monitoring sites for Spain on 22 May, 11pm Friday night - maybe too much Rioja or Lock-down madness.

Sorry yes probably me who had too much vino a visit to Specsavers out of the question due to inter province restrictions.
Anyhow there was seismic activity on 14th May at the Alhama de Granada area of 1.6 magnitude, the same day there was activity at the Straits of Gibraltar at 20.50pm measuring 3.6 magnitude. Magnitudes below 2.5 are usually not felt but recorded by a seismograph.
